Basic Blackjack Rules: How to play blackjack
The mission is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, attempting to beat the dealer's hand. Hands are determined by counting the value of the cards within the hand. Any card with a number of two through ten is counted at face value. Any face card (Jack, Queen and King) is counted as 10. An ace is valued at either 1 or 11, at the player's discretion. A blackjack is an ace plus a face card or a ten. Three or more cards that come to 21 is not a blackjack, and a two-card blackjack trumps any other hand of 21 that is not a blackjack. Any blackjack rule discussed below is applicable for both land-based casino blackjack and online blackjack.
Initial Wager
Before getting any cards, each player at the blackjack table must leave a wager. The minimum and maximum bet is always set at the table. |
